weave-img help

Selections, retouching, colour and layers: tools for editing images and preserving your projects.

Open an image

Import PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, SVG or a compatible PSD, or create a blank canvas. Photos keep their original dimensions. Images can contain up to 32 megapixels and 16384 pixels per side; image files can be up to 25 MB and projects up to 50 MB.

Select the area to edit

Select the image layer first. Use a rectangle, ellipse, lasso or magic wand to mark pixels. Choose New, Add, Subtract or Intersect to combine areas. Invert swaps the selected area with its surroundings; Deselect returns to the whole image.

Paint and retouch

The brush and eraser work on the selected image layer. Adjust stroke size, hardness and opacity. With the clone stamp, hold Alt and click to choose a source point, then paint on the destination. The paint bucket fills areas of similar colour; tolerance controls how much colours may differ.

Adjust light and colour

Brightness, contrast, saturation, hue and blur change the layer’s appearance while preserving its original pixels. Reset adjustments to return to the initial values. Pixel filters and retouching can be undone in the history.

Compose layers and masks

Use the Layers panel to rename, arrange, duplicate, hide and lock elements. Opacity and blend mode control how an image combines with those beneath it. Turn a selection into a mask to hide outside pixels while keeping them in the project. Add text with library fonts, shapes and other images.

Crop, export and keep

Crop the document to the selection or resize the image. Export PNG to keep transparency, JPEG for a compact photograph, or WebP. The .weave-img project preserves editable layers, text, masks and resources. Download it as a backup before clearing browser data.

Tools and selection

The arrow selects and transforms elements in the composition. Pixel selection tools mark an area of the image layer. If the layer is hidden or locked, make it visible and unlock it before retouching.

Right-click, or touch and hold, opens relevant actions. Properties change with the selection and accept only values supported by the object.

Project and exported files

A weave-img project preserves editable elements and embedded resources. PNG, JPEG and WebP produce an image at the chosen size. PSD import supports 8-bit RGB and grayscale files and preserves compatible bitmap layers. Masks are applied to pixels. Unsupported effects and advanced layers require the composite image stored in the PSD: a notice identifies imports as a single layer. PSD export turns text and shapes into image layers.

Local data and offline use

Projects and versions belong to the browser profile. After offline preparation you can keep working without a connection, but you should still download backups of important work.

Essential glossary

Pixel
A single point of colour in an image. Pixel dimensions determine the available detail.
Selection
The area of pixels affected by brushes and local operations.
Mask
A grayscale image that controls visibility: white reveals and black conceals.
Layer
An element or container in the composition, with its own order, visibility and locking.
Blend mode
How a layer’s colours combine with those beneath it.
Rasterise
Converts text, shapes or groups to pixels. They can no longer be edited as text or shapes afterwards.
Opacity
How visible a layer or stroke is: 0% is transparent and 100% is fully visible.
Canvas
The document area included in the exported image.
